M.E.C.A. has formed an exciting partnerhip with the Rochester City School District.

M.E.C.A. Steve Carpenter Scholarship Program

MECA is proud to announce the Steve Carpenter Scholarship Program. This new initiative, undertaken inpartnership with the Rochester City School District, is part of our outreach program and is intended to provide scholarship opportunities for students within the Rochester City School District.* It is our hope that the program will encourage student participation in the arts and enrich the lives of these young people through the development of their artistic talents and interests.

We are currently seeking sponsors and hope you will consider supporting this worthwhile endeavor. The tax-deductible sponsorship donation for one semester of study is $175, or you can sponsor a student for the entire three semesters of study for $600. Steve will provide a matching scholarship, thus enabling two students to participate for your single sponsorship donation.  As a sponsor, you can meet with sponsored students and follow their progress both at the studio and online (stevecarpenterstudio.com). In the spring of 2008, there will be a juried student exhibit at the Art Center Gallery. We can only imagine how lives can be changed through such a program and hope you will share in our dream.

For more information regarding the scholarship program, sponsoring a student, donations for student art supplies, and the application process, please contact Wendy Underhill at 262-8693/451-1219, via email at wendy.underhill@rcsdk12.org, or visit the studio website at www.stevecarpenterstudio.com.

* In the event that all available scholarships are not awarded to students within the Rochester City School District, there will be an effort to award the remaining available scholarships to eligible students in other Rochester area schools.

There will be two new Saturday classes offered at the Steve Carpenter Gallery and Art Center. The purpose of these classes is to enable the students to seek their fullest potential in painting and drawing, and to help the college bound students to prepare their entrance portfolio.
